Family Medicine Specialist, Family Medicine Department,
National University Singapore

Asst Prof Leong Choon Kit

Dr Leong Choon Kit is a family medicine specialist trained in Public Health practising in the private GP sector. He has been involved in primary care changes with both public and private sectors for more than two decades. He teaches in the three local medical school with adjunct titles in both the NUS School of Medicine and the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He is also a tutor in the Graduate Diploma course conducted by the College of Family Physicians Singapore.

In the area of research, Dr Leong has been mentoring and championing primary care research in various capacities and institutions, such as the SPARKS at LKC School of Medicine and a partnership between GP+ Co-op and SingHealth Polyclinics called the Primary Care Research and Innovation (PCRI).

Besides serving in the areas of academic and research, Dr Leong sits on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) as an elected member. He also chairs the Primary Care Network (PCN) Council at AIC / MOH.

In the social circle, Dr Leong founded the not for profit social enterprise GP+ Co-op and he is now advising it. He is also an exco member of the Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF). With these, he works with various groups including the unions to help shape the medical landscape for the medical fraternity.
