Prof Przemyslaw Kardas
Prof. Przemysław Kardas, MD, PhD is Professor and Head of the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical University of Lodz, Poland, and Founder and Director of its Medication Adherence Research Center. He is a founding member and current Executive Committee member of the International Society for Patient Adherence, Compliance, and Persistence (ESPACOMP), which he previously chaired.
Prof. Kardas has led several major EU-funded projects on medication adherence, including the landmark ABC Project (FP7), which established the standard taxonomy of adherence, and Skills4Adherence, the first online educational program in this field. He has been instrumental in promoting international collaboration through the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) and the COST Action ENABLE.
His interdisciplinary research integrates digital health, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence with sustainability and healthcare ecology. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, books, and chapters, and served as guest editor for adherence-focused journal issues.
Prof. Kardas is actively involved in scientific advising and health policy development at national and international levels, bridging science, policy, and clinical practice to improve medication use and outcomes, particularly in ageing populations.
