Abstract

Lifestyle-related medical conditions are predominantly seen in primary care. These include obesity, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, dyslipidaemia, arthritis, diabetes and osteoporosis. While conventional medicine often emphasises pharmacological and procedural interventions, Lifestyle Medicine offers an evidence-based approach that addresses the root causes of these conditions through sustainable behaviour change. This interactive session, “Lifestyle Medicine: How Much Do You Know?”, invites healthcare professionals to explore the principles and scope of Lifestyle Medicine in a dynamic and engaging format.

The 60-minute programme features three key segments: an interactive quiz to gauge baseline knowledge, a concise expert overview of Lifestyle Medicine, and a discussion on how this approach differs from traditional practice. Participants will gain a high-level understanding of the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine—nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, social connection, and avoidance of risky substances—and how these pillars contribute to disease prevention, improved health outcomes and even reverse chronic medical conditions. The session will also clarify conceptual differences between Lifestyle Medicine and conventional care, highlighting its role in complementing existing clinical practices.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a clearer understanding of Lifestyle Medicine better, recognise its evidence-based foundations, and appreciate its potential to transform healthcare delivery. Join us for an engaging experience that challenges assumptions and broadens perspectives on the future of chronic disease management.
